Honestly, I am stressed

Some of my learning this week was from my Entrepreneurial class and a lot of my learning was from life. I suppose they all tie into each other, as experience is a learning experience. Life tends to toss us about and see what we do. Do we sink in the waves or rise up out of the water to swim hard toward the shore?   Honestly, it has been a crazy week. My house is a wreck. I am juggling two classes. My kids are working from home because of Covid. I have my son and fiancĂ© staying with us. They have been here for an amazing visit, my son, almost 2 months, and his fiancĂ©, almost a month. We have learned much as we have all vacationed together and then got into a routine of school and life together. Covid has affected everything and this is one positive way, we have had the ability to all be together with the flexibility of school being associated with the computer they carry about. The kids have all been amazing, as we have been adjusting to a new house and remodeling. If we haven’t sca...

Bucket List

Dreams are interesting things. Some of my dreams wake me up talking to my husband, cussing out a dog, lecturing a child, or even getting up to go do something so important that it propels me out of my sleep to go do it. But maybe those are more nightmares than dreams...  This weeks lesson resonated with me as I listened to and read a lecture given by Randy Pausch, a professor from Carnegie. I tend to shrink away from some things that seem too hard or insurmountable, like figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Creating a Bucket list of 50 things was hard and easy. It was fun to dream about what I would love to see a...

Firsts... we have to start somewhere!

Saturday, January 9, 2021   Since this is intended to be a journal format, I like to start at the beginning, why I am writing, what is the purpose of this blog, etc. First, it is an assignment but my hope is to create a great habit of reflection on my happenings. I will be honest that I am not sure if I can just think business and will probably have a lot of personal musings to add to the reflections. I am hoping for this blog to be a way to understand myself (even be brave enough to face those pesky weaknesses) and how I can improve.    One learning that I appreciated was from the videos that were apart of our lesson. I loved the thought or mantra of doing what you love. If you don’t love it, why would you even want or be motivated to do that thing. I liked that Guy Kawasaki said that you can be ‘miserable and poor, or miserable and rich’, or something to that effect. I am really excited to follow the Jim Ritchie course and learn from him. Excited to learn as I read ...
